Om Magnus Eriksson

Magnus Eriksson is Deputy Director at the Institute for Innovation and Social Change (IIS) at the University of Gothenburg. Eriksson proposes how universities and other organizations can enable researchers and academic environments to promote increased utilization of research results, ideas and knowledge, as well as manage the demand for expanded collaboration with the outside world, including companies and public authorities, thus creating value and leverage for industry, universities, and society in the emerging knowledge-based economic paradigm.

Eriksson also co-manage the Sahlgrenska School of Innovation and Entreprenurship (SSIE) at Sahlgrenska Academy. At SSIE, incubation processes with the SSIE Accelerator (developed and financed by IIS) are performed, including transforming research activities into innovations, transforming tech ideas into ventures and ventures into growth firms, and transforming social challenges into social development. Thus, Eriksson is very dedicated to utilization, innovation and entrepreneurship, for instance when it comes to the process to facilitate accelerator processes and start-ups, for instance within digitalization.

Eriksson is experienced working within public and private actors, as well as in the interface between public and private actors & creating value both for the public and private sphere. One key focus is developing and securing lasting societal and business impact as well as value creation. He has a wide contact network, both nationally and internationally.

Eriksson is also engaged in educational management and research focused on strategic management with specific interest in identifying and developing business models to build sustainable businesses in relation to intellectual assets, properties and capital. He is also dedicated to the Center for Intellectual Property (CIP).

Eriksson has a proven record as a director in knowledge intensive business development and management, including working as strategy consultant and business developer; and he holds a PhD in Technology Management from Chalmers University of Technology. He also advises organizations in knowledge/ technology-intensive industries to improve their management of technology, innovation and intellectual property for increased competitiveness, profitability and growth.
