About Erik Mägi

Doctoral Student in Private Law.

Erik Mägi's thesis project has the preliminary title Legally approved parent – establishing of parenthood, normcritical studies, children´s rights and legal design. The research project concerns the legal constructions of who are established as parents in different family scenarios, the legal constructions relations to social norms and power structures, as well as alternatives of legal design. Main supervisor: Mats Glavå. Assistant supervisor: Torbjörn Odlöw. Financial support from Stiftelsen Fru Mary von Sydows, född Wijk, donationsfond.

Erik Mägi is also together with Lina-lea Zimmerman author of a textbook on family law, Stjärnfamiljejuridik [Legal Regulation of Diverse Families] (Gleerups 2015). In the spring of 2016 the authors was awarded the Jörn Svensson Award for their work with LGBTQ rights.

Erik Mägi has also, on the request of the Department of Law, conducted a norm-critical examination of the LL.M. programme in Gothenburg. Read the English summary in the report at page 8.

Erik Mägi teaches family law, labour law, discrimination law, law in practice, normcritical studies and intersectionality.

He has previously been legal practitioner, mainly in the policy-based civil society. He has been active in the public debate over several years. He also
teaches folk dance and contact improvisation for adults and children.
