About Gabriela Arguello Moncayo

I am a doctoral student at the School of Business, Economics, and Law of the University of Gothenburg (Sweden). My research relates to the management of wastes derived cargo residues once they are discharged at port reception facilities. My research interests are in the field of maritime and environmental law. I am particularly interested in scrutinizing different competing regimes in relation to the protection of the environment and finding different regulatory alternatives to deal with such competing regimes. I enjoy teaching and I have had the wonderful opportunity to teach in several courses regarding international public law, law of the sea, shipping law, and marine environmental law.

Main supervisor Lars-Göran Malmberg.

I hold a master’s degree in Maritime Law from Lund University. My undergraduate studies were done in the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, where I obtained the degrees of Licentiate in Juridical Sciences and Lawyer in 2008. During my undergraduate years, I was ranked first of my class and I was granted with a partial scholarship for academic excellence by the University at my home country.
